Government relief on the rising cost of electricity bills (bill relief package)

What is it?

Electricity bills have been increasing, so the Commonwealth Government is spending $3.5 billion to provide some relief. The relief extends further than the previous package . This new power bill relief doubles the number of eligible households from five million to more than 10 million.

• From 1 July 2024, all households will see a $300 credit automatically applied to their electricity bills.
• Small businesses will receive $325 off their electricity bills over 2024–25.
• The credits will be applied in quarterly instalments.
• The payment will automatically apply to bills, no action is required from customers.
• All households are eligible.
