Energy Saving Upgrades (South Australia)
Energy Saving Upgrades (South Australia)
South Australian Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS)
REPS is a scheme that helps South Australian households and businesses become more energy efficient.
What is REPS?
The REPS is a South Australian Government energy productivity scheme that provides incentives for South Australian households and businesses to save energy. The REPS follows on from the Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES) which ran from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2020. The objective of the REPS is to improve energy productivity for households, businesses and the broader energy system, with a focus on low-income households. This will reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. The REPS achieves its objectives through the setting of Energy Productivity Targets to be met by electricity and gas retailers.
GloBird’s focus is on households, including low-income and those experiencing financial vulnerability.
South Australians can reduce their energy use as part of REPS. As a participant in this government scheme, GloBird is committed to helping South Australians get more value from their energy.
How it works
Obliged energy retailers, including GloBird, are required to achieve Energy Productivity Targets by delivering approved energy efficiency activities.
There are two categories:
Priority Group
Priority Group category includes residential households where at least one resident meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Commonwealth Government pensioner concession card;
- Health Care Card (including a Low-Income Health Care Card);
- TPI Gold Repatriation Health Card;
- Gold Repatriation Health Card (EDA);
- War Widows Gold Repatriation Health Card;
- Actively participating in an energy retailer hardship program or payment plan;
- Receiving the South Australian government energy bill concession;
- In a rental property where the rent is $500 or less per week;
- Referral by a registered member of the South Australian Financial Counsellors Association (SAFCA).

The General category includes all households that do not meet the Priority Group criteria, as well as businesses.
