Energy Bill Relief Fund extension
Energy Bill Relief Fund extension to end of 2025
The Commonwealth Government is providing an additional $1.8 billion to extend the Energy Bill Relief Fund (EBRF) for 6 months to the end of 2025. This builds on the previous energy bill relief rolled out to households and small businesses in the 2023–24 and 2024–25 financial years.
Households and eligible small business electricity retail customers will receive further energy bill relief of up to $150 from 1 July 2025. This is in addition to the $300 rebate provided to households and $325 to small businesses during the 2024–25 financial year. The $150 rebate will be automatically applied to electricity bills in two quarterly instalments of $75. Each payment based on the census dates provided.
State and territory governments will administer the rebates and deliver the payments through retailers.

Who is eligible for energy bill relief under the extension until December 2025.
Households in Australia holding an active electricity account with an energy retailer or embedded network electricity supplier are eligible for a rebate of up to $150 on their electricity bills from 1 July 2025 to the end of 2025. This is in addition to the $300 rebate in the 2024-25 financial year. Rebates are applied in quarterly instalments for most households.
Household eligibility will be determined for each payment based on the census dates provided. Where states implement additional energy concession and rebate programs, the Commonwealth will, where possible, align EBRF payments with state payments.
Rebates will be applied on an account-basis (i.e. one rebate per customer account) across 1 July 2025 to the end of 2025, where possible. Electricity customer accounts with multiple meters (i.e. multiple addresses connected under the same name) will receive the rebate once.
To be eligible for the rebate, a small business must:
The rebate delivered through the EBRF is in addition to any existing state and territory energy rebate scheme for small businesses.
