What is the NSW/SA Government VPP Rebate?

The rebate rewards households with batteries, that join an approved Virtual Power Plant (VPP). This helps stabilise the grid.

Eligibility checklist:

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have an eligible battery system*
  • Be located in NSW or SA
  • Ensure no third-party controls on your battery
  • Agree to join an approved VPP (ZEROHERO)

* You must also meet other requirements set out in the official NSW/SA VPP Rebate scheme.

How to claim the rebate with ZEROHERO:

  • Check your battery system – confirm it’s on the approved list (ask your installer or check the government website – https://cleanenergycouncil.org.au/industry-programs/products-program/batteries).
  • Join ZEROHERO – sign up online from via the GloBird website or call 133 456.
  • Enable communication – GloBird must be able to connect to your battery before you can claim the rebate. Please provide accurate details of your device. You can refer to more details in Link your battery.
  • Apply for the rebate – once your battery is linked, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to our partner (MAC Trade Services) to complete your application.

Receive your rebate – after approval, your rebate will be paid directly to you.
