Why do energy rates change each year?
Each year network companies (who own the wires and poles and energy infrastructure) obtain government approval for their annual distribution charges. This traditionally happens in July each year. We usually reset our rates each year around the same time.
Why have my rates gone down?
We adjust your energy rates in line with network and wholesale costs. If these costs are lower, we pass on the savings to you. Plus, we are committed to support our customers as much as we can through these tough times.

Why do energy rates change?
GloBird is a retailer, we buy energy on the wholesale market, and pay the network / distributors who deliver the energy to your premises. As such, we do not control wholesale or network prices. Wholesale costs are driven by supply and demand on the NEM (National Energy Market), and network companies obtain government approval for their annual distribution charges. These costs make up the vast majority of your bill. GloBird are a budget retailer and operate on very small margins to pass on the best price we can to you.
Is GloBird still the best provider for me?

We don’t have lock-in contracts or exit fees, instead we offer competitive rates to keep our valued customers loyal.
With so many changing offers on the market, we can’t make the claim that we are always the cheapest, but our rates have commonly and consistently been among the best rates on the market. To do this, we keep our operating costs to a minimum, and our margins are razor thin, however we can’t control the underlying cost of energy. What we can control is how hard we work to keep our cost down, and we are committed to always delivering excellent value energy.
How can I be sure the price change is fair?
GloBird doesn’t have lock in contracts, so we won’t just change your price unless it’s absolutely necessary. It’s simply not in our interests and goes against our values to do so.
