Joint Account Owner
Joint Account Owner
Contact Types
You can organise to add people to your account. You can either add a person as an Authorised Contact, so they can make enquires on your behalf, or you can add a Joint Account Holder, who is named on the bill, and jointly financial responsibility with you.
Authorised Contact:
- Also known as Contact Person, this contact has Authority to manage the account, enquire about details like account balance or copy of bills, move out’s & disconnection.
- This person is also allowed to make changes which may impact the account holder financially.
- They cannot arrange a move-in for the account, cancel sign ups on the primary account holder’s behalf or request an available refund on the account
- They have no financial responsibility meaning they are not liable for bills, also meaning they cannot apply their own concession card to the account
- Their name will not appear on invoices or correspondence
Generally, people want to add authorised contacts so that another person they trust can make enquires and transactions on their behalf.
Joint Account Holder
- Also known as Joint Owner, this type can be selected for an additional contact by the primary account holder.
- This contact has the same authority as the Owner; having Full Authority to manage all parts of the account, as well as to add authorised persons.
- They have joint financial responsibility for the account with the Owner/Primary Account Holder. This means that the Joint Owners’ Concession card can be used on the account to be eligible for their state’s relevant energy concessions.
- Their Name will appear on all invoices and correspondence along with the Primary Account Holder’s name.
Generally, people want to add Joint Account Holders are partners, couples who live together, and are comfortable to both be jointly responsible for billing.
