Every now and then, we pick up an award from industry experts as additional validation that we’re achieving what we set out to do.
Canstar has just announced their annual Energy award winners, with GloBird Energy being recognised in the Outstanding Value – Gas Plans – VIC – 2025 category.
We were second in this category last year, which was good, but not as good as being Number One!
Canstar tells us that we achieved the best scores on 5/6 observation dates through low pricing and strong features, including dual-fuel discounts, sign-up bonuses, and excellent customer support.

To determine their Outstanding Value Awards for Electricity, Solar Electricity, and Gas Plans, Canstar uses a sophisticated ratings methodology
“Canstar’s Outstanding Value Awards sees our expert researchers assess providers based on a unique methodology designed to help consumers identify which providers deliver on more than just price, but features and ultimately, overall value,” Josh Sale, Group Manager, Research and Product Data at Canstar, said.
“Throughout the 2025 assessment period, GloBird Energy consistently achieved high scores, delivering beyond the average market performances,” Mr Sale explained.
“Strong features, including sign-up bonuses, dual-fuel discounts, and customer support features, also added to the provider’s strong results.”
Value is about more than just price
Canstar has developed its own sophisticated methodology to assess overall value in each sector and category. As Mr Sale points out, great value is about more than simply the cost of a service, important as that is.
“With over 100 features captured and assessed in Canstar’s Outstanding Value awards, it’s no mean feat to earn a high rating, and beat out the competition,” he explained.
“With so many providers in the market, there’s no doubt a customer looking for the best value gas plan can get easily overwhelmed. However, these awards, and GloBird Energy’s win, will hopefully help reduce some of the uncertainty,” Mr Sale concluded.
