Even though we like to think we’re doing a pretty good job – and the feedback from our customers overwhelmingly suggests that’s the case – it still seems a little immodest to pat ourselves on the back.

We never want to be seen to be resting on our laurels. On the contrary, any feedback that isn’t completely positive makes us look at ways we can improve our offerings and our service.

However, when someone else pats us on the back, hopefully we can be excused for celebrating that recognition.

This week, we’re taking a moment to be very proud and excited to have received two Mozo Experts Choice Awards, for Best Value Electricity and Best Value Solar-friendly Electricity in Victoria.


What is Mozo all about?

Mozo, the money-saving zone, started about 10 years ago as an online marketplace for financial services.

Its aim was to provide consumers with a simple means of comparison for the full range of retail banking products, from credit cards to loans and term deposits.

Over the years, Mozo has developed some world-first online tools and services, including a customer-rating system and a credit card comparison tool.

A few years ago, they introduced the People’s Choice Awards, then the Experts Choice Awards, and now they’ve added the energy market to their comparison repertoire.

About the Mozo Experts Choice Awards

Mozo introduced the awards to recognise Australia’s best-value banking products two years ago, and this year extended the awards to the electricity market.

The awards are based entirely on Mozo’s analysis of the more than 274 electricity products (from 27 retailers) in its database, to determine which products are best value.

The Mozo database contains all generally available products in the contestable electricity markets of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, southern Queensland, and the ACT.

As they explain the criteria, their calculations are based on single rate tariffs, guaranteed discounts and any conditional discounts for paying on time, direct debit, paying online or in advance, or e-billing, but not one-off discounts or incentives.

We also think it’s important to note that they’re recognising consistently low prices for households of different sizes and locations, over time.


What does it mean for you?

For us, it’s very welcome recognition, and reinforcement for our staff that we’re on the right track.

When you’re working diligently to establish and run a business, it can be hard to be absolutely sure that you’re achieving what you set out to do, which in our case is to provide the best value and the best service we can.

For you, the consumer, whether you’re an existing GloBird Energy customer or not, this means you don’t just have to take our word for it.

We can tell you we aren’t trying to ‘spin’ the facts into a sales pitch (because that’s not what we’re doing), but you’re entitled to take any claim by any business with a grain of salt.

Now that an independent body – and, not just that, but a company that exists purely to provide consumers with the best possible advice to help them save money – has given us this very big tick, you know it’s not just our high opinion of ourselves!
