Consumer Energy Strategy – NSW
The NSW Government has just launched its $290 million energy plan to help households and small businesses benefit from the state’s transition to more sustainable energy.
Find out how you can save power and cut your electricity bills through the NSW Consumer Energy Strategy.
The NSW Government has a new plan to ensure everyone can benefit from a sustainable energy future.
The $290 million Consumer Energy Strategy will help households and small businesses across the state access the benefits of energy saving technology, like solar batteries and energy efficient appliances. This will help reduce electricity bills and make homes and small businesses more comfortable and sustainable.
How the strategy will help households and small businesses:
1. Setting targets to power people and communities
These targets will drive uptake in energy saving technologies, home energy efficiency, electrification and more. This includes a target of 1 million households and small businesses having access to both a rooftop solar and battery system by 2035, rising to nearly 1.5 million by 2050.
2. Incentives and rebates to cut your power bills
These incentives will reduce the upfront costs of upgrading to energy saving technologies. These are being rolled out in a phased approach, including the $238.9 million Home Energy Saver program launching in the second half of 2025.
3. Practical resources to help you make informed energy choices
These resources will help you take action to make simple changes that will save energy and cut bills.
4. Boosting consumer rights and protection
These policies and plans will deliver certainty and stability for everyone in the energy transition. This will ensure households and small businesses are protected and supported.
Take action in your home or business.
